I'm a rat that draws things.
Here are two less-cuddly critters in my ever-growing toy collection. These two, (who I’ve named Valkyrie and Salazen Grum), are two “aliens” I received from a quarter machine at Publix when I was about 7. The machine itself had no evidence as to what these were, what line they were from, or any kind of identification whatsoever. The paper sign inside the machine merely had one of those “CREEPY mystery SPY toys” gimmicks on it with a bunch of pictures of toys that weren’t even dispensed by the machine. To see what it DID dispense, I tried two times, and was ultimately blessed with these things.
Now, I don’t know about you, but these things strike up a vibe similar to bogleech's Mortasheen if you ask me. Valkyrie, (the blue one with the yellow tummy), looks like some sort of vaguely monkey-like alien with frills on her neck, wrists, and ankles. She has a vampiric mouth and goat-like eyes, almost as though she were meant to be an El Chupacabra/Dover Demon sort of thing. Either way, she's adorable.
Salazen Grum, (the black and red brain), is some sort of bizarre, insectoid-cthulhu thing. He has four legs and two arms and a large, uncovered brain. He also appears to have red tentacles sprouting from his face, giving off a Lovecraftian look. The strangest part, which sadly isn’t visible in the photo, is that he has armored legs of sorts, with insect-like exoskeleton shapes on them. While his feet are Godzilla-esque reptile claws, he has webbed fingers, once again channeling some sort of Old One.
Honestly, I have no clue who designed these, but I’d love to see the other creatures they created for the unnamed toyline.
